Storyteller

Malak Quota is a director, animator, and writer whose work blends live-action and animation to tell emotionally driven stories with a distinct visual style.

She studied Digital Media at Otis College of Art and Design and earned her MFA in Animation from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts.

She has worked as a director, animator, and editor on a wide range of projects across the USA, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Her experience spans game development, corporate videos, commercials, online content, narrative films, cooking shows, and more.

Professionally, Malak is capable of taking on projects from concept to completion. She has experience developing client-facing work, creating pitch decks, storyboards, and visual treatments, and overseeing all stages of production, from pre-production through direction, editing, and post. She’s a strong communicator, creative ideator, and experienced team leader, able to manage crews both remotely and on set. Whether working independently or collaboratively, she brings a clear vision, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of visual storytelling.

Her award-winning short films have screened at international festivals. Her VR experience Surrounded Serenity was showcased at SIGGRAPH 2024 and has received multiple international awards. She recently completed Fragile, a short film currently screening on the festival circuit.

Malak is now in production on an animated feature documentary and in development for a second live-action feature. She continues to blend reality with fantasy, and animation with live action, to push creative storytelling into new spaces.
